When running a social media account, it is beneficial to know the best ways to incorporate user-generated content into your accounts. User-generated content is useful in many ways. Sometimes people that follow and tag brands are able to get great content for our feeds that really shows off our brand. Sometimes the content others come up with can also be very creative and on brand. Therefore, this is something a lot of brands look for when planning out a feed. If the content is fitting to the aesthetic of the brand and represents it well, said brand will reach out asking for permission to use this content.

Although sometimes this content can come easily to us, sometimes people will not tag or send it directly to you. There are a couple of other ways I would search for this content, if and when I need it for my Facebook group. One way I would look for this is by searching keywords. Since my group is about skincare, I would search keywords related to that. To name a few: beauty, skin, skincare, skincare routine. When searching this I find plenty of wonderful graphics, mock-ups with photos of products. The next step would be to message the creator asking for permission and saying I will give them credit in the caption when it is posted.

Another way I would obtain user-generated content for my Facebook group would be by inviting my audience to do so. This could be done in the form of a contest, such as the “best step-by-step skincare routine” Canva mockup. Another idea would be asking users to film a creative video doing their own skincare routine.

User-generated content not only helps me as the group administrator fill my feed with content, but it also makes the audience feel more included as part of the group. Therefore user-generated content is beneficial to all.
